the story
The Tiny Amsterdam collection is my little tribute to the beautiful city of Amsterdam.
The canals wouldn't look as charming as they do if they didn't have their iconic houseboats ("woonboot").
There are over 2,400 houseboats in Amsterdam. In the central canal rings, you will some that are over a hundred years old!
Back in the day, houseboats were a cheap answer to the housing shortage in Amsterdam. However, most of the houseboats nowadays are moored and not intended for sailing; they have their own address, full access to services, and can be pretty luxurious!.
how it's made
I've made the model of this tiny houseboat meticulously by hand using traditional silversmithing techniques, no 3D printing involved!
Then, I cast them in 925 Silver in small batches and finish them by hand.
(Also available in 14kt or 18kt gold by request)
I named each house from this collection with short words in Dutch that perfectly fit what this picturesque city radiates, and I hope that those words can also describe how you feel each time you wear the pendants!
I've decided to name this houseboat "gezellig" which could be translated to cozy!
